Submerged New Orleans
約２万５０００人が屋根付きフットボール場「スーパードーム」に避難していたが、同市は３１日夜、バス４７５台で避難者の移送を開始。１日未明、第１陣が約５６０キロ離れたテキサス州ヒューストンの競技場「アストロドーム」に到着した。
スーパード－ム、フレンチクォーターそれぞれ行った事があります。
スーパードーム、フレンチクォーター付近は歓楽街で、もともと治安が良いエリアではありませんでしたが、家などを失った人たちがスーパードーム詰め寄せたものの、電気も水もなく悲惨な状況→凄惨な状況になっているようです。

The scenes of anarchy and helplessness following national disaster on the US Gulf coast has provoked a great deal of hand-wringing in the US press."The situation in New Orleans, which had seemed as bad as it could get, became considerably worse yesterday with reports of what seemed like a total breakdown of organised society," says the New York Times.
道路が寸断されてなかなか救援の手がうまく届かない状況にもあると思いますが、
出来るだけ早く、支援の手が届く事をお祈りします。
対策がうまく進まなければアメリカ政府に対する非難ももっと強まる事でしょう。
スマトラ沖地震の時も起こったように、どうして早く対策を行わなかったのか？という疑問も出てきているようです。
New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin has blasted the federal authorities for failing to respond fast enough to the devastation left by Hurricane Katrina.ニューオーリンズ市長の怒りのインタビューが載っています。麻薬中毒患者たちが武装して薬屋などを襲撃していると言う発言もあります。
[前よりも素晴らしい町を作るんだ。」と言っているBushの言葉はなぜか白々しい感じがしました。
それにもまして、以前ロスアンジェルスで起こったような町が暴徒化して治安の回復が遅れるのを心配しています。
Disaster Reliefという事は、今後世界規模で考えなければならない事のような気がします。
国連などが中心になっていけないのかな～
8/30 New Orleansの衛星写真
8月31日の写真のようです。
高速道路が途中から水に消えているのが不気味です。
右下のほうに、スーパードームが見えます。
回りは水で囲まれています。
その右上がフレンチクォーターです。
9/2 スーパードーム付近（上記の写真を９０度左回転している）
スーパードームの周りはまだ水があります。
ドームの屋根は剥がれているのでしょうか？
フレンチクォーターの辺りは水は引いているように見えますが、道路は寸断されているのでしょう、
自動車などは走っている感じがありません。

日本の本州と同じくらいの地域が
浸水したんだそうですねぇ。
規模が大きい・・・。
とはいえ、これがアメリカ？！な映像ばかりで、
よその国におせっかいしてる場合ぢゃーないだろうな
感じは否めませんね。

大国アメリカの弱さを見たような気がします。
内側のもろさと言うか・・・
やはり場所も不運だったと言うか・・・
これ以上の惨事にはならないで欲しいです。

Dear Mayor of New Orleans:
I deeply feel sympaty to the people of New Orleans who faced huge problems, and wishing for them the rebirth of the City.
Please consider to design the whole New Orleans above the water-level for the rebirth/rebuilding of the City.
1. Please make Many, Big and Deep Canals throughout New Orleans, and the soil dredged from such canals be put on the lands beside the canals so that raised lands above water-line will be produced.
2. Please make Many, Beautiful Bridges over the Canals so that trafic will be smooth and pleasant.
3. Please eliminate all the residential area below water-level, so that no need to re-inforce levees. Please just make Canals and Bridges.
4. Please study the history of making Tokyo city since year 1603, where many parts of present business centers were marshes and swamps.
