Gmailのアカウントでドット(.)有り無しは同じアカウントとして認識されるんですね

時々使っているGmailのアカウント。
firstname@gmail.comですが、時々first.last@gmail.comの宛先で間違いメールが送付されてくるのですが、実はこれは問題なかったという事を今日はじめて知りました。
というのは、表題の通り、
Gmailはドット（.）付き/無しのメールアドレスは同じアドレスとして認識するという事。
（大文字小文字も同じです。）

Gmail doesn't recognize dots as characters within usernames, you can add or remove the dots from a Gmail address without changing the actual destination address; they'll all go to your inbox, and only yours.If you get mail that seems to be intended for someone else, it's likely that the sender entered the wrong address, just like if you've ever dialed a wrong phone number for someone. 今まで、メールが来るとちょっと気持ちが悪かったのですが、
