A tearful Paula Radcliffe has revealed she has no idea what went wrong in her failed bid for Olympic marathon gold.女子マラソンの世界記録保持者で、優勝候補だったイギリスのPaula Radcliffe（ポ－ラ・ラドクリフ）さんが、メディアのインタビューに。
まだ、インタビュー中にも涙ぐんで痛々しかったんですが、
「マラソン中に何が起こったか分からない」と本人は言っています。
メディカルチェックの結果を待っているような印象もありました。
でも、アテネの気温のせいにはしてはいない感じでした。
イギリスでは、彼女のリタイアについて、
意見が二つにに分かれている(イギリスらしい）と言うニュースも。
二度の世界記録保持者で、今回の今メダル最有力候補だったRadcliffe
さんに何が起こったか、不謹慎なようですが、興味がある所です。

Athens factfileThe XXVIII Summer Olympic Games will be held in Athens from 13 August to 29 August 2004. Here are some facts and figures about the big event.Greece was the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games with the first recorded event staged in 776 BC.
Athens will host the summer Olympics for the second time in modern history. The first official Games were held in Athens in 1896.
Athens won the race to stage the 2004 Summer Games on 5 September 1997 at the 106th IOC session in Lausanne, defeating Rome in the final round of the vote by 66 to 41.
Buenos Aires, Cape Town and Stockholm fell out in earlier stages, while Istanbul, Lille, Rio de Janeiro, San Juan, Seville and St Petersburg did not make the shortlist.
Some 28 sports will be represented in 38 venues. A total of 301 medal ceremonies will take place over a period of 16 days.More than 10,500 athletes and 3,000 team officials from 199 countries will participate.
Around 21,500 members of the world's media are expected to cover the Games from Greece.

アテネの停電

A major power cut hit Athens and parts of southern Greece, four weeks before it is due to host the Olympic Games.今回の停電は、４０度にも上がった気温の為、エアコンの使用による影響もあるのではとの事です。地下鉄やエレベーターの中に閉じ込められた方々もおられるようです。
オリンピック施設や、病院は建物に自前の発電機を設置しているので問題ないということですが、日本からオリンピックゲームを観覧の為アテネ行きを計画中の方々、いろいろな状況を想定しておいた方が良いような気がします。

物騒な話ではないですか？

日本のニュースでも、報道のあった「ルート変更に応じない航空機は最後の手段として撃墜される可能性がある」というギリシャの大臣の発表。
いずれにしても物騒な話です。
Greece has vowed to shoot down any aircraft trying to wreck the Olympics with a 11 September-style attack.
一方、同じ記事の中で、アメリカ、オーストラリアのオリンピック委員会はギリシャのセキュリティー対策に印象付けられたと言うのがありました。
アメリカオリンピックセキュリティー担当官も、アテネでのセキュリティー説明会の後、満足した様子です。
良い方向へ、だんだん向かっていっているといいですね。

アテネ２００４ オリンピック施設関連情報

記事が前後しますが、しばらく、エントリーを書いていなかったアテネオリンピック施設工事関係のニュース（BBC関係)をまとめてエントリーにしました。
The first of the two arches that will support the Athens Olympic stadium roof is in place, organisers said on Friday.5月14日付の記事。メインスタジアムの屋根を支える二つのアーチは予定位置に設置完了したと言うニュース。
Greece is warning reporters against illegally entering Olympic venues after a series of newshounds were arrested trying to expose security flaws.ギリシャは、メディアレポーターと称してテロリストがオリンピック施設に入ってくる可能性を指摘しています。
Olympic spectators face a two-hour wait to get through security checks, Athens organisers have revealed.オリンピック主催者側は、
「セキュリティーチェックの為会場への入場は2時間くらい待たされることになるだろう」と発表。
待ち時間は、空港のそれと同じ位になるだろうとの話。

開会式、閉会式には3時間前に会場に来るようにとの記事のようです。
オリンピック会場へ行かれる方は、くれぐれも最新の情報を入手しておかれるほうが良いと思います。

Greek athletes will take part in a test event at the Olympic stadium in Athens next month.6月10-12日にオリンピックスタジアムを使って、The Greek Athletic Championships「ギリシャ陸上競技大会」が開かれるらしいです。 大会までに施設は間に合わないと言う指摘もあるらしいのですが・・・ ま、完全に施設が完成していないのは、はっきりしているので、どの程度の事が出来るのか（どの程度の内容が見られるのか）興味があります。 一応、ギリシャのトップ選手が参加予定らしいです。

椅子は通常青か赤が多いです。テニス会場と水泳会場に写っています。

アテネの爆弾事件

ちょっとニュースを見ていたが、あのオリンピック開催の責任者の女性でしょうか？
酷いいい方でした。
「これは、VERY small incidentで、このような爆破事件はどこの国の首都でもよくあるレベルだ」
３回爆破があって、very smallじゃないと思いますが・・・・。
ギリシャの法務大臣がちょうどアメリカに警備の状況を説明しに行っている状況でこんな事が簡単に起こるなんて、どういう話になるんでしょうね。

自分のエントリー
アテネオリンピック、メインスタジアムの屋根工事が遅れているようですで、紹介した、メインスタジアムの二本のアーチの移動工事。
IOCが示唆していた「4月28日,水曜日」には、始まらなかったようです。
Greek officials insist the Olympic stadium roof will be finished on time despite missing another key deadline.アテネ政府の方は、IOCに対して、 「いつ始まるかはっきりしていいないと言ったじゃないか」 と言った開き直りの意見があるのではないでしょうか？ 良くある話（言い訳）ですが・・・。
もともと、IOC自体が工事の詳細それも工程に絡むということ自体異常だと思いますが。

ミュンヘンオリンピックで7個の金メダルを取ったマークスピッツさんが、「警備上の問題よりアメリカチームのアテネオリンピックへの参加を見直す必要があるのでは？」 BBCのインタビューにて。

オリンピックが中止になった時の保険-その2

先日のエントリーで書いたオリンピックが中止になった時の保険を引き受けてくれるところがありました・・・・・。
・・・・・ロンドンにある会社だそうです。
・・・・・補償額は、最大で＄170百万ドル＝約１９０億円位のようです。
これでアメリカが出場しないと言って、雪崩現象的に他の国が追従しても、最悪の費用だけは、カバーされると言うわけですね。
ますます、現実的になって来た感じです。

もともと遅れている工期を縮める為に、スタジアムの外で屋根をサポートするフレームを組んで、
スタジアムの横からスライドさせると言う予定なのですが・・・・
IOC（オリンピック委員会）は、水曜日にはこの作業が始まらなければならないと言っているようですが、
アテネ政府の方は、いつスライド作業が始めるか決まっていない
と言っているようです。

Leedsのオプティシャンがマラソン選手に

日本でも、ニュースになっていたので皆さん後存知と思いますが、
Leedsという町で、Optitian（眼鏡技師）をやっていた女性Tracey Morris さんが、イギリスのマラソンのオリンピック代表になったという話題です。ゴールした時の彼女の表情は、まだ余裕があった感じでした。凄い！
彼女は、あの有名な、Paula Radcliffeさんと一緒に走るんですね。
すい星のように現れたトレーシーさん、良い成績で走れると良いですね。
